Slow Living

Posted by Ralph Dunning on

I have lived my entire life in a rush. In business and in my day to day life. Now I am almost 60 and like all people my age ask myself ...how did I let this happen. I talk to many young people and its all the same crap when I hear them stressing about rushing into a career and so focused on makings much money as they can. They like me are focused on earning , earning , earning and not actually living.

What if you made a conscious effort every morning to focus on just that day for 80% of it. Plan for tomorrow, but live each day in its present time for 80% of that day. Slowing everything down. Learning to live slow....

For me I had to focus on something outside of my work life which has been apparel for over 30 years. I chose photography to shoot landscapes that put me in a place of stillness - mainly through water.

I found when I was shooting that it slowed everything down and forced me to be present. The preparation. The scouting. The shooting itself. The review of each photograph.

Slow  living at an early age or any age is critical to a quiet mind. I started my  journey to slow living through photography.

How will you ?
